What did I find in New York?

My New York Haul!

What a wonderland of products to see, feel and find! Of course I was in my element seeing what there was, and what I could try!

The first thing  I saw was this mascara, I had heard so much about and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about! wow! I couldn't believe this mascara! Could this be the mascara of my dreams?  Oh I think so!

It might be all right for everyone that has long, luscious eyelashes, but for some of us, I should say it's always a struggle! They weren't too bad when I as younger, but with each decade, trust me they get shorter and straighter! Heaven help all the people who wear false lashes all the time, they definitely will have very little in the eyelash dept when they get in their 60's and onwards!

So the mascara I found was from Revlon, Colorstay Xtensionaire Mascara around £12, it was totally brilliant!! I had seen it on Instagram and thought I should try it. Though the brush was bigger than I usually used I managed not to poke my eye out! It was smooth and easy to apply and the brush just did something magical! It curled and stayed! Heavens, I've got lashes!

I think this is pretty fabulous too! Jones Road Miracle Balm in Dusty Rose about £38 on line or in Liberty. If I’m honest, I’ve been dying to try this now iconic product!  This is the brainchild of Bobbie Brown, now allowed to launch a new product line after she sold Bobbie Brown to Estée Lauder (I’m sure that’s correct)

This is one of the most interesting and unusual products I have ever used! It’s advertised to give that dewy look on any skin, but particularly as you get older, you need that look of moisture, not dryness. I really wanted to know what all the hype was about, because as you get older you have to be so careful of ‘dewyness’, that it doesn’t look like sweatiness or the glow doesn’t show up all your lines!  Well, no trouble there! It gives that such a glowy, radiant look without being tacky. I can’t believe I like it so much! It does make the skin look more youthful! It’s quite brilliant!

This is some vibrant blusher! But I love it! Pure Nude baked blush by Essence in Bold Heart (you can say that again!) £5.99. This season the blushers are very vibrant, with high pigment, quite frankly they look a bit scary! But fear not, take it one tap of your blusher brush at a time for better control!  And you’ll be surprise how easy it is! And if it looks a disaster, so what, just brush a little away with a clean brush. Well, I have to say it went on like a dream, with a little bit of a glow, so soft, so smooth. I think you should always wear a blusher even if you’re just wearing a lip gloss, it brightens and lifts fantastically!

What another NY treat? Well, yes! I wanted to try a
Glossier Sheer Matte Lipstick, £20 I got it in Crush, which is a fairly bright and of course a watermelon pink! So pretty and summery. It’s really an unusual product in that it’s quite solid, not soft at all. I suppose it has to be like that to make a matt, chalk like stick. But It’s light and sheer and glides on smoothly. It gives a soft blush of colour, and so easy to wear if you want a good hint of colour without the fuss of pencils and a lipstick. It is really different, I like it!

I also bought a 6 colour eye shadow palette called Taupe It Up, it’s by Essence and was £3.99. Did I really need another eye shadow palette! No! But taupe I thought is a must have! And so useful. It’s very pretty with 3 matt shades and 3 shimmer shades, so ideal for every occasion. All the colours you can wear by themselves or together, so I’ll be getting to grips with these in the next few weeks. I do like to be able to use all the shades in a palette otherwise you end up by finishing some and not even trying the others! I know you know what I mean!

Before I bought the Jones Road Miracle Balm (50g) I bought what looks like a very similar product from Revolution, it’s called Balm Glow, (32g) ‘multi use glow for the face, luminous finish, natural looking flush of colour’. Mm, I thought I’ll give this a try, because it did look very interesting! I got it in Natural Nude and it was about £12. It came in quite a few shades, but I got this colour as it was slightly tan, but not dark. I can wear it on my cheekbones, lips or all over my face. You have to ‘break’ the surface of the balm as in the Jones Road one to access the product, then you just tap it where you need it. It’s very simple and does gives a youthful, glowing look. Would I have bought both of them if I knew they were so similar? Well, to be honest I don’t know! I think I’ll just have to play with them both and see!

Lastly, I bought 2 lip products, 8h matte liquid lipstick in Blush Pink by Essence at about £4.99 and a lip pencil the same 8h matte comfort lipliner in Rosy Nude by Essence at about £3.99. Both are such lovely colours and texture I bought 2 of each because I just loved the colours so much! The lip pencil is one of those pinky nudes that are so easy to wear and difficult to find for fair skinned/hair/blue toned skins. You can always find the brown toned lipsticks and pencils which quite frankly look like I’m ill, the lipstick is glorious! So softly matt and softly pink! Both are a marvellous summery find!

You might not be going to New York any time soon! But all these products can be found here in the UK, be it on Amazon, online or in your local Boots or Superdrug. Happy shopping and playing!
