OH NO! Sometimes it’s an absolute disaster! Not everything goes to plan, or looks good, or it’s just not possible to work out! Case in point was the Revolution Brow Pomade. Yes, lovely product but it was a very thick and dense. II got the correct colour for my fair colouring, but crikey it was so dark, it looked like I had put it on with a trowel, not with a delicate wiz of the accompanying brush. That was another thing, it was a small double ended brush, no instructions, or clear indication of what to do with what end! Believe me I tried both ends! I found it really tricky and just couldn’t get it right, so I gave up, which I absolutely hate to do, I’m not usually defeated but I was this time!

It was a different thing with the Primark Wonder Lash. Yes I thought I was on to a winner! Ha! The brush was larger than I normally use or like, but I was in need of a new mascara, so I thought let’s give it a whirl. It started off ok but as the day wore on it just got clumpy and bits fell off in and under my eyes. So that was it! I really didn’t love it. Has anyone else found them easier to apply? I’ve since found two really good mascaras.

This blog contains some recent posts that you may have missed on your socials with added content, as I can write so much more here and have a freer reign! It’s so easy to miss posts as they whizz by so quickly, as who has the time or inclination to be looking or scrolling all the time! And lots of people don’t subscribe, so a blog is a chance to catch up on all the stories, and to read what interests you.

So please add a comment if you want any more information, help, or just to chat! And of course if you want me to address anything in particular.

I firmly believe that you can find any product if you spend enough, but the clever ones find the same quality product for a fraction of the price. For me it’s not about the money but the thrill of finding that super equivalent! That’s why I call it Shoestringbeauty, beauty on a shoestring, luxe for less!
Come hunt with me!

I’m using the Garnier Vitamin C Daily UV Brightening Fluid in Glow which is usually £12.99 it combines a very high protection SPF50+ to prevent sun damages with Vitamin C* known for its efficacy on boosting brightness and improving complexion and mineral pigments for instant radiance and glow in a sheer lightweight fluid. I should mention it also comes in a plain non glow formula, which I haven’t tried yet. There are whole ranges out now concentrating only on Vit C, because it has such a brightening effect and helps pigmentation. But to get the correct level of SPF coverage you’ve got to use quite a lot of product. Really slap it on, otherwise there’s no point!

The problem is I just didn’t use enough product! There I was, gently applying it like a moisturiser or primer, and it was very glowy with a bit of golden colour to it. You know the look, pale neck and slightly too tanned face! Not a great look! So I personally think it’s a product more suited to the summer, when your neck and face match up! But I’ve finally got it now! And it does give the skin this glorious glow, so you look disgustingly healthy! Sometimes it’s not just plain sailing and you have to work at it a bit until you understand the product! I’m glad I persevered.

This is really a foundation. At first, because of the packaging I thought it was more like a makeup balm. But this was completely different, very soft, whereas the makeup balms are either hard (like Revolution Miracle Balm or Jones Road) The word mousse perfectly described it. I first tried it as a bronzer, contour product, it was quite pale, but so was I, so it worked. But now I’ve got a bit of colour it’s turned out to be a very light, natural looking foundation. That was a surprise!  Why do I like it so much? Well, I think that it’s different, and it’s easy to use, I do love that, no faffing around! To get the right effect without too much time and effort! So I would definitely recommend it.

The Essence Soft Touch Mousse makeup is super when you want a light tan all over or just on your cheeks! I’ve got 02 Matt Beige £3.79. It was so light, moussey and fluffy!, great to apply! The make-up range with a super delicate mousse texture gives your face a smooth and natural-looking matt complexion while allowing your skin to breathe freely. It quite innovative and I loved it!

W7's It's Glow Prime is the perfect priming formula for a natural & glowy makeup base. Yes, I really did think this was going to be too much! It was almost iridescent! Very glowy, a bit similar to the Garnier Vit c glow primer, but without the SPF and Vitamin C!  The first thing you need to do before you use it is give it a good shake, then gently pump some onto your face directly, or some on the back of your hand. But a word of warning, it does shoot out so you could get it everywhere! So that’s why I go straight on my face now, you can tell I’ve had a few miss pumps!  But this is a very pretty, glowy primer, it makes your skin look great, particularly when you apply your foundation on top. Blurred and pretty perfect! It’s soft, smooth, smells nice and easy to apply, always a winner for me! Its £2.99 from Amazon or Wilko.

With a smooth and silky texture, this formula leaves the skin with a faux-filter finish that blurs imperfections and boosts your natural complexion.
This peach-champagne formula blends out leaving a sheer, radiant coverage that can be worn alone or under your favourite foundation.  I’ve been using this a lot and the effect is brilliant!

An instant shot of skin magic. I don’t think I could live without this now and I’m on my second bottle! Japanfusion Genius Lift Elixir from Beauty Pie. It’s a soft pink colour with a liquid thin gel like consistency, which makes it very easy to apply. It’s a concentrated lifting elixir which is like an instant shot of magic, plumps up the skin, giving it a fabulous glow. I use it neat straight on my face and neck before my serum, but you can also use it mixed with your moisturiser, it just depends on you! It’s £14 members price (£30 otherwise)

Beauty Pie always have 60 day free membership so you can try them. But a word to the wise! Take their skin quiz, otherwise it’s very easy to go down a rabbit hole of products and get lost!

If you keep ONE thing in your beauty arsenal at all times, it should be this. What a difference it’s made to my skin!

Kiss hello to a smooth, vibrant lip look with Lipfinity Liquid Lip Colour. The velvety, liquid, matte formula is part lip stain, part long-lasting lipstick with a lustrous top coat to finish. Sweep onto lips for up to 24 hours of flawless wear.

I love a pink lipstick! what colour do you like?
This is the
Max Factor Lip Infinity, have you tried it yet? I tried this many years ago now, and it continues to be a favourite! It was my first try of a lip stain lipstick, it really does last 24 hours and they come in great colours! My all time favourite is no 40, a medium pink that you can wear with anything. Also put your lipstick on the top to make a custom colour! Find in Boots and Superdrug around £12.99

Elf No Budge Eye Shadow Stick is a versatile cream eyeshadow stick that delivers high-pigment and long-lasting colour with a matte finish. I first tried it as an eyeliner, so I could smudge it in between my lashes for a quick easy application. The first one I bought was Cool Beans, a nice dark brown. The second one was the blue, and I blended it out from my eye lashes to show more of the colour. They blend very well because they are quite waxy. It’s soft, smooth so easy to use and goes on like a dream! Only £5! I would get one in every colour (I think I’ve done that already!). So for a quick and easy eye application they are a winner!

Primark Prep & Perfect Refreshing Make up Setting Spray £5, is a great product when you want the effect but don’t want to pay the price. There seems to be so many hydrating and fixing sprays out there, and you can really spend any amount of money. This one is a good middle of the road setting spray, and for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot but wants their makeup to stay put I don’t think you can do better!

There are so many ways you can use your spray. Spray before you apply your foundation for a beautiful smooth, blurred effect or after you have applied your foundation for an all over fix! Another tip I learned, was to spray your concealer brush, apply your concealer around your eye area, then pat it all together to get a fixed, lasting, blurred effect. It gives a very smooth finish! Genius! By the way, did you know it’s a dupe for the Urban Decay Setting Spray! No I didn’t know either!

It definitely feels like blushers are having a moment so far this year! Do you agree that there seems to be hundreds of them? From cream in a palette and a stick to liquid in a bottle. Then there’s the powders and the highlighters, and I haven’t even mentioned the levels of pigment! A light touch is definitely needed!

So I came across this super handy little palette from Savers, Sunkissed Copper Crush at £3.99, the pigments are quite dense so a little goes a long way! You can use them together or each one on its own, and they are great Summer colours! A tip I learned from a makeup artist is to use a large powder brush. It’s really works with this sort of product, you’ll get a light, soft whoosh of colour! Perfect!
